Overnight works to start on Guild Street

Staffordshire County Council have posted an article about it’s highway improvement scheme on Guild Street, outside of the National Brewery Centre.

“A £270,000 highways scheme to improve the road outside the National Brewery Centre in Burton will start next week.  

The work will involve reconstructing the route from Brewers Close junction on the A511 Horninglow Street and the entrance to the National Brewery Centre on Guild Street.  

Staffordshire County Council’s highways crews will also replace damaged drainage systems, repair kerbs where necessary and carry out some minor footway patching along the route. 

This scheme will be carried out overnight for two weeks, starting on Monday 1 July.  

Temporary traffic signals and lane closures will be in place on the A511 Horninglow Street throughout the overnight works so that crews can safely work on one side of the carriageway. This will minimise disruption to the local community by preventing the need for full road closures and diversions. 

James Bailey, Staffordshire County Council’s Assistant Director for Highways and the Built County, said:

“This two-week highway improvement scheme is part of a huge programme of works the county council is delivering in the Burton area. 

“The Horninglow Street and Guild Street works will take place at nighttime to minimise disruption as much as possible for road users. This scheme has also been planned carefully so that no full road closures or diversions are needed. 

“I’m confident that Burton’s residents will be pleased with the smooth newly resurfaced route as they travel through the town centre in just over a couple of weeks’ time.” 

The scheme is part of a wider £50 million additional investment in the county’s roads over the next three years.”
